On the convergence rate improvement of a primal-dual splitting algorithm for solving monotone inclusion problems

چکیده
We present two modified versions of the primal-dual splitting algorithm relying on forward-backward splitting proposed in [21] for solving monotone inclusion problems. Under strong monotonicity assumptions for some of the operators involved we obtain for the sequences of iterates that approach the solution orders of convergence of O( 1 n) and O(ωn), for ω ∈ (0, 1), respectively. The investigated primal-dual algorithms are fully decomposable, in the sense that the operators are processed individually at each iteration. We also discuss the modified algorithms in the context of convex optimization problems and present numerical experiments in image processing and support vector machines classification.

Convergence Rate Analysis of Primal-Dual Splitting Schemes
Primal-dual splitting schemes are a class of powerful algorithms that solve complicated monotone inclusions and convex optimization problems that are built from many simpler pieces. They decompose problems that are built from sums, linear compositions, and infimal convolutions of simple functions so that each simple term is processed individually via proximal mappings, gradient mappings, and mu...
متن کاملStochastic Inertial primal-dual algorithms
We propose and study a novel stochastic inertial primal-dual approach to solve composite optimization problems. These latter problems arise naturally when learning with penalized regularization schemes. Our analysis provide convergence results in a general setting, that allows to analyze in a unified framework a variety of special cases of interest. Key in our analysis is considering the framew...
متن کاملA first-order stochastic primal-dual algorithm with correction step
We investigate the convergence properties of a stochastic primal-dual splitting algorithm for solving structured monotone inclusions involving the sum of a cocoercive operator and a composite monotone operator. The proposed method is the stochastic extension to monotone inclusions of a proximal method studied in [26, 35] for saddle point problems. It consists in a forward step determined by the...
متن کاملPrimal-dual splitting algorithm for solving inclusions with mixtures of composite, Lipschitzian, and parallel-sum type monotone operators
We propose a primal-dual splitting algorithm for solving monotone inclusions involving a mixture of sums, linear compositions, and parallel sums of set-valued and Lipschitzian operators. An important feature of the algorithm is that the Lipschitzian operators present in the formulation can be processed individually via explicit steps, while the set-valued operators are processed individually vi...
متن کاملVariable Metric Forward-Backward Splitting with Applications to Monotone Inclusions in Duality∗
We propose a variable metric forward-backward splitting algorithm and prove its convergence in real Hilbert spaces. We then use this framework to derive primal-dual splitting algorithms for solving various classes of monotone inclusions in duality. Some of these algorithms are new even when specialized to the fixed metric case. Various applications are discussed.
